NKT has successfully completed the first internal TOV test sequence of high-voltage DC cable systems

NKT tests for Temporary Overvoltage (TOV) have moved from a theoretical hypothesis to proof-of-concept in-house, successfully completing their first testing sequence.

This is an important technical milestone that increases the reliability of cable systems needed for the green transition.

With current and future demand for sustainable energy sources growing exponentially, pressure on reliable high-voltage cable systems is constantly increasing. As a result, international standardization organizations are discussing tests to ensure that future cables can withstand the pressure from increased stress and overvoltage scenarios.

NKT has successfully completed its first customer-compatible TOV testing sequence, using new internal testing capabilities for its high-voltage cable systems. This milestone demonstrates NKT’s commitment to future-proofing the technology and better supporting the continued expansion of a DC grid in Europe.
